A video showcasing Dubai’s safety standards is going viral and getting much attention online. In the video, influencer Leyla Afshonkar does a test to see how safe the city is. To check the city’s security, she left her jewelry on the hood of a parked car and watched from a distance to see what people would do. She was surprised when no one even looked at the gold. Leyla waited, finally picked up her jewelry, and returned it to the car.
In Dubai, a video of ‘how safe the city is’ has attracted much attention on social media. Finally, in the video, the influencer Leyla Afshonkar tests Dubai’s safety standards. She takes her gold ornaments, places them on a car’s bonnet, and waits to see what people will do. As she expectedly thought, no one pays attention to the metal as if it does not hold gold. One moment, a woman bends down to pick up an object that has fallen and places the object back on the car.
The video begins with Leyla placing a gold necklace and earring on the front of a blue BMW. She then took her jewels to the next store and left the jewelry out in the open. To her disbelief, the jewelry remains unmoved for half an hour. After about 30 minutes, no one on the live feed has interacted with the gold directly. She said while laughing uproariously in the video, ‘Tell me Dubai is not the safest country in the world.’
Afshonkar shared the video a few days back. Since then, it has accumulated more than 20 million views and over 1 million likes. The clip sparked an online debate, with some praising Dubai’s safety and others doubting whether the stunt was real.
The Viral Responses Of Social Media Users
“If you touch it, they will whip you in jail and will deport you back home and ban you forever from entering the country. It’s not the people and safety; it’s the law that dictates safety,” commented one user. “Is Dubai really this safe? Or do they pay influencers for such marketing?” asked another.
Some users testified that the city was safe. “It is safe. The public fears that, upon arrest, the repercussions are severe. The service cabbies offer must be seen to be believed. ‘If they fail to maintain a rating over 4.7, they are fired and sent to either Pakistan or India,” posted another user.
Another user commented, “I once forgot my handbag with a laptop, passport, and cash. An hour later, I realized it was missing. Two hours later, I retrieved it from the exact spot where I had left it. Nobody touched it! “Dubai is safe, but this video is scripted as (0:16) same girl in white & black spotted (0:38) standing behind this main girl at jewelry store watching all these recorded videos,” pointed out one X user.
