Melissa Ashcroft has spoken out about the unwanted attention she receives online, saying her appearance attracts harassment rather than understanding. The 30-year-old mother of three, who claims to have one of the largest busts in Britain at a 36M, says men regularly send disturbing and sexual messages. In contrast, women often reach out with kindness and support.
Based in Blairgowrie, Scotland, Melissa Ashcroft says her inbox fills daily with messages from strangers. Some attempt to flirt, while others cross clear lines by asking to buy her used bras or requesting private video calls. Men send these messages even though she is married and raising three young children. For her, the attention feels invasive rather than flattering.
Recently, she launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for breast reduction surgery. She took this step after the NHS informed her that her body mass index is too high to qualify for the procedure. As a result, she feels left with limited options while continuing to live in pain.
Since puberty, Melissa Ashcroft has suffered from severe back, shoulder, and lower back pain. Each morning, getting out of bed can take up to an hour. Simple tasks, such as lifting her eight-month-old daughter, cause discomfort. Exercise is also tricky, as movement can increase pain and draw unwanted attention in public spaces.
While men often send sexualised messages, women respond very differently. Many share words of encouragement and similar struggles with body pain or medical barriers. Because of this, she says female support has become a significant source of emotional strength.
Beyond health issues, daily life presents constant challenges. Finding bras that fit correctly is expensive and frustrating. Specially made bras cost between £80 and £110, leaving her unable to afford them regularly. Instead, she often relies on cheaper alternatives that provide poor support and worsen her pain.
Her body image has also suffered. After appearing on ITV’s This Morning, she said watching the footage made her feel uncomfortable and oversized. Years of unwanted attention have shaped her self-perception, despite her husband’s support.
As a child, her body attracted ridicule for opposite reasons. Classmates bullied her for being flat-chested before puberty. Later, classmates accused her of stuffing her bra. These experiences left lasting emotional effects.
Today, Melissa Ashcroft wants to be seen as more than her appearance. She does not seek attention or admiration. Instead, she wants understanding, relief from pain, and the chance to live an everyday life.
Her message is clear. She is a mother, a wife, and a real person who deserves respect, dignity, and proper medical care.
