A Mexican woman living in India is gaining praise online for her views on safety and freedom. At OCLF 2024 in Nagpur, Jaqueline Morales Cruz shared how her content inspires other foreigners to visit without hesitation. Her story highlights the life of a Mexican woman in India and the positive experiences they can have.
Taking to Instagram, the woman posted a short video of her on-stage appearance, in which she discussed her experiences. She is married to an Indian man and now lives in the country.
“We feel safe in India. We are able to drive, because many countries think we are unable to do many things. I can dress in kurta sometimes in Saree, But if I feel like (it), I can also wear western and I am feeling completely safe about creating content,” Cruz said while on stage.
“This is also opening the horizons for foreigners to come on holiday,” she added.
Many received her remarks positively, and the viewers thanked her for showing the good side of India.
“I’m glad you can talk about the positive aspects of India and show how proud you are to have made it your home,” one user commented.
“It’s great to see someone speaking positively about India otherwise all I can find is a narrative that degrades India and puts it in a negative light,” wrote another. “Good to see someone projecting India in such a positive light,” a third user said.
But as always, some believe that India is not exactly as Cruz presented it. Some doubted whether the government paid Cruz to talk positively about the country.
