In a striking example of social media fame turning into legal trouble, a woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district faced a hefty fine after her Instagram reels, featuring dangerous stunts on a high-speed expressway, went viral. The woman garnered widespread attention after uploading several videos shot on the Bundelkhand Expressway. In the clips, she is seen dancing while sitting and standing on the bonnet of a moving car. In one particularly reckless video, she is shown lying across her husband’s lap as he drives.
What may have seemed like an attempt to ride the wave of viral fame soon drew the attention of the Kanpur Nagar Regional Transport Office (RTO). Officials reviewed the videos and deemed the behavior illegal and a serious risk to public safety. The department swiftly issued a challan of INR 22,500 against the woman for performing stunts on a public highway.
According to authorities, the car is registered to Upendra Singh Chauhan of Baramaupur in Auraiya. He, too, has not been spared from the fallout. The RTO levied an additional fine of INR 5,000 against him for enabling the stunts. A further INR 5,000 penalty was added, categorizing the act of dancing on a car’s bonnet as a direct threat to public safety.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter). The woman was dubbed ‘Reel Bhabhi’ by amused and alarmed users. Some praised her boldness, while others worried about the risks she was taking. The video showed her lying on her husband’s lap, sparking debate about boundaries and content trends.
